The veteran SABC sport commentator Cebo Manyaapelo (50) has died after a long illness.
The veteran SABC sports commentator Cebo Manyaapelo (50), known as "CC", has died.
The cause of death is yet unknown, as is details of his memorial and funeral service that will be announced at a later stage.
Cebo Manyaapelo left hospital in September after he spent two months at months at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto being treated for an as yet undisclosed illness. He died on Wednesday in Mahikeng, after a long illness.
He started his sports presenting career in 1984 as a sports presenter for the then Radio Bop.
Cebo Manyaapelo presented programmes like Re tla dula re thabile and Mamepe on the SABC's Motsweding FM since the 1980's.
"The country has lost a very great man in Cebo Manyaapelo and his work will continue to bring us great insight and understanding of the world of sport for decades to come‚" says the SABC in a statement.
"Cebo Manyaapelo's talent was not only confined to South Africa and he represented the SABC beyond the borders of South Africa where his skills were equally appreciated."
"His meaningful contribution to the SABC will remain and continue to inspire all who knew him in his personal and professional space. He will be deeply missed and may his soul rest in peace," says the public broadcaster.
