The Walt Disney Company through its Disney Television Animation division has revealed the first image of how the new DuckTales will look that will start on Disney XD (DStv 304) in 2017.
Disney is resetting and restarting DuckTales that saw 100 episodes made between 1987 and 1990.
The Disney film Big Hero 6 is also being turned into an animation TV series that will also start in 2017 on Disney XD. The Lion Guard, based on The Lion King will start in April on Disney Junior (DStv 309).
The new DuckTales, just like the original, will revolve around the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three grand nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Other DuckTales characters include Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys,Mrs Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquck.
"DuckTales has a special place in Disney's TV animation history," says Marc Buhaj, the senior vice president for programming and general manager of Disney XD.
"It drew its inspiration from Disney legend Carl Bark's comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults."
