eNolly+ the new rebranded name of e.tv's eAfrica+ channel on OpenView HD; new name to 'give a clearer meaning, identity' of what the channel is about.
The eAfrica+ channel on Platco Digital's OpenView HD (OVHD) satellite service has been rebranded as eNolly+ although content won't be exclusively Nigerian film and TV productions but still include African television content from across the continent.
eAfrica+ that started in October 2013 as one of the e.tv packaged and provided channels for OpenView changed its name on 1 February to eNolly+ and remains available on OpenView HD's channel 107.
The word "Nolly" comes from Nollywood - the moniker used for Nigeria's film industry which is in turn a play on America's Hollywood.
"eNolly+ will continue to thrill and entertain South Africans with content from across Africa," says e.tv.
eAfrica+ was changed to eNolly+ because "we wanted to give a clear meaning and identity to our channel," says Monde Twala, the managing director for e.tv's channels division.
"Viewers know that when they tune in to eNolly+ that they can expect the best Pan-African entertainment from around the continent.
eNolly+ is one of 4 e.tv sister channels together with eKasi+, eToonz+ and Beatlab that's provided to OpenView HH where Patrick Conroy is now taking over from Maxwell Nonge as managing director from 1 March 2016.
Programming on eNolly+ include shows like The Benjamins, Shuga, My Mum and I, About to Wed, Soul Sisters and lots of Nigerian films.
