Kids channel eToonz+ on OpenView HD adds Silly Season as the first motion capture-based animation series produced in Africa.
e.tv's kids channel, eToonz+ (OVHD 200) on Platco Digital's OpenView HD satellite TV platform will start Silly Season as a brand-new animated TV series on 17 December at 15:30.
Silly Season is South Africa's first locally produced motion capture based animation series in Africa. The computer generated animated comedy follows the adventures of four girls, Daisy, Summer, Ginger and Snowflake in the town of Sillyville, along with a animal and flower characters.
Silly Season, produced by The Flying Circus, has 26 episodes and is aimed at girls aged between 8 to 12 years old. The series was directed by Daniel Buckland with the four girls who each represent a different season.
"We are very excited to be the first channel in Africa to broadcast a series of this nature and the first of its kind to be produced by our own local producers," says Monde Twala, the managing director for e.tv channels division.
"We have a diverse offering on our various e.tv channels and eToonz+ focuses on content that is new and relevant for family fun viewing."
Silly Season was produced using a motion capture system similar to the one that was used on the Tintin movie and captures the performance of physical theatre actors.
"The Flying Circus is very excited to bring South Africa's first motion captured animation series to eToonz+ on OpenView HD," says Andre van der Merwe, Silly Season executive producer.
"This has been a long and challenging process, from script to screen but we are confident that we have created a world class animated series."
