SABC News cameraman Llewellyn Carstens physically assaulted outside Polokwane Regional Court by accused truck driver in Collins Chabane's death.
An SABC News cameraman was physically assaulted today outside court at the Polokwane Regional Court in the ongoing court case of Collins Chabane, the late minister of public services and administration.
Collins Chabane died on 15 March this year when his vehicle collided with a truck making an illegal U-turn on the N1 between Polokwane and Mokopane.
The case was postponed to 25 September.
After the court case into culpable homicide was postponed, the truck driver left the Polokwane Regional Court on foot and was pursued by media, including SABC News.
The accused truck driver Amukelani Rikhotso turned around and physically assaulted the SABC News cameraman Llewellyn Carstens and started to throw punches.
Amukelani Rikhotso smashed his fist into the SABC News cameraman's camera lens which caused injuries to his face.
A case of assault against Amukelani Rikhotso was opened at a Polokwane police station.
