The Royalty Soapie Awards is set to take place this Saturday at 19:00 at Durban's International Convention Centre where DJ Merlon, the Durban Gospel Choir, R&B singer Bucie will perform.
The Royalty Soapie Awards, taking place for a second year this year, won't be broadcast live on South African television, but will be shown later in the year on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161).
Mzansi Magic's Isibaya and e.tv's Scandal! are leading the charge with 16 nominations each in this year's Royalty Soapie Awards, followed by SABC2's 7de Laan with 14 nominations.
On stage this year will be DJ Merlon with Mondli Ngcobo, as well as Durban's Gospel Choir and the R&B singer Bucie, with Goliath & Goliath as the hosts.
Besides awards for various categories, the Royalty Soapie Awards will also be handing out two Lifetime Achievement Awards to veterans of South Africa's TV industry.
The Royalty Soapie Awards was started in 2013 as a new genre-specific awards ceremony set to honour soap opera television in South Africa.
