SABC silent over Endemol South Africa's revelation of disciplinary action against SABC3's Isidingo actor Don Mlangeni-Nawa.
The SABC was silent today; not responding to requests for comment over how SABC3 and the public broadcaster is feeling over production company Endemol South Africa's revelations that the Isidingo actor Don Mlangeni-Nawa had a disciplinary hearing yesterday.
Endemol South Africa's managing director Sivan Pillay told South Africa's TV industry publicly that actor Don Mlangeni-Nawa "disregard for conduct codes and lack of discipline while contracted to the Endemol produced daily drama" led to the disciplinary hearing.
It's not clear why Endemol SA would make such a public statement about someone contracted as an employee to the Endemol produced soap - in fact its the first time ever in Isidingo's history that such a statement was issued about someone supposedly part of the Isidingo family and the SABC3 family.
The SABC's head of PR for TV channels, Zandile Nkonyeni, didn't respond to media enquiries today seeking comment on how the SABC feels about Endemol SA making public that Don Mlangeni-Nawa is embroiled in disciplinary action.
Isidingo is commissioned by the SABC and is broadcast on weekdays on SABC3.
The news damages the images of not just Endemol SA and Don-Mlangeni-Nawa, but also of Isidingo and SABC3 as it becomes clear that there's ongoing problems behind the scenes at the soap which ironically on-screen often deals with problems involving the fictitious ON!TV station.
