M-Net picks up clever meta show The Writers' Room as well as All on the Line with Joe Zee; e.tv acquires Life with La Toya from OWN.
This is clever and now it remains to be seen where M-Net will be programming this high brow programming - M-Net has acquires the broadcasting rights for South Africa and Africa of the meta show The Writers' Room.
The Writers' Room, 6 hour long episodes, follows how TV shows are created.
It looks at the development of American pay-TV dramas and sitcoms, such as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, Dexter, American Horror Story and New Girl (all shown on M-Net), through a roundtable talk show format which reveals and yields surprising insider info and details which the fans of shows don't know (and will love to find out).
The Writers' Room was produced by RelativityReal together with that amazing American pop culture magazine Entertainment Weekly.
M-Net has also grabbed the broadcasting rights to the first two seasons of All on the Line with Joe Zee which will most probably be shown on M-Net Series Reality (DStv 114). All on the Line with Joe Zee follows the work of a creative director at Elle magazine and all the resultant creativity, chaos, deadline pressure and conflict.
e.tv has meanwhile acquired Life with La Toya the new reality show Oprah Winfrey has for her OWN Oprah Winfrey Network in the United States. The show with 10 half hour episodes follows the older Jackson sister as she does duty as aunt and plot a fame and career comeback.
