Boomerang topples the mouse house on DStv, 'regains' its spot as the number one kids TV channel in South Africa.

Wondering how this is going down with the folks over at Disney: Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) says Boomerang (DStv 302) has "regained" its spot as the number one kids TV channel in South Africa.

Turner Broadcasting says Boomerang has been "the number one dedicated kids channel in South Africa for the past 5 consecutive weeks".

"Together with its sister channel, Cartoon Network, it has consistently dominated the top 10 spots when it comes to competitive programmes for kids on DStv in the 4 to 14 year age group category."

Both of these channels attract over 2 million kids to tune in for a period of at least 3 minutes or more per day. "Their audiences reach between 70% to 75% of the total kids audience that watch the DStv children's bouquet on a daily basis," says TBS EMEA.

"Currently Boomerang has a 4,85% share of the kids' channels watched, whilst Cartoon Network comes in with a share of 4,25%." Boomerang launched on DStv in 2005.

"For the past 7 weeks running, Tom & Jerry Tales has been Boomerang's top show, reaching a total of 1,16 million kids. Other shows such as Looney Tunes and Garfield on Boomerang, and Ben 10 and Powerpuff Girls on Cartoon Network prove to be firm favourites among South African kids."
