Hieroglyph has been ordered as a new 13-episode TV drama series, a fantastical action-adventure show set in ancient Egypt which will start in America on the FOX network there in 2014.
Hieroglyph revolves around a thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh whilst navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, Egypt's criminal underworld and sorcerers.
Calling Hieroglyph an "intoxicating drama", FOX's entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly says in a press statement announcing Hieroglyph that "we wanted to do a show about deceit, sex, intrigue in the court and fantastical goings-on - no better place to set that than ancient Egypt".
