EMBARRASSING! The Citizen newspaper today reports that Oprah will be in South Africa 'next week'. Uhm, no.
That's why people don't read newspapers anymore (and why South African so-called entertainment journalism is mostly a cesspool of amateur hacks who just show up for goodie bags): Take The Citizen newspaper today with Oprah Winfrey on the front page, and then telling readers that the media mogul will be in South Africa "next week".
In the highly embarrassing and cringe worthy story The Citizen "reports" that Oprah Winfrey will be in South Africa next week as "she will be hosting a full-day event, called O You.
Sadly, the out of touch and clueless Citizen newspaper seems unaware that the O You event already took place at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg yesterday already, that Oprah Winfrey did the press line in the afternoon, and that she mingled with MultiChoice and Discovery executives and journalists on Monday evening.
Newsflash Citizen editors, sub editors and clueless content providers: Oprah Winfrey has been in South Africa since Saturday already when she attended the third graduation event of her third matric class of girls at her school.
Is it any wonder that South Africa's entertainment press sits with a huge credibility problem and that TV coverage is so atrocious?
Is it any wonder that readers in massive numbers are seeking out real, accurate and credible sources of news information and dumping yesteryear publications which come across as out of date and can't seem to get the news right?
