Former SABC News International editor Montlenyane Diphoko wins SABC labour fight; will be back at SABC in two weeks.

The former SABC editor Montlenyane Diphoko has won his labour fight againt the SABC with the Labour Court which has ordered the SABC to have him report back to work within two weeks.

The Labour Court has upheld last year's findings of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) and has ordered the SABC to pay out Montlenyane Diphoko his salary in backpay backdated to 1 April 2010.

Montlenyane Diphoko was the editor of the SABC News International TV news channel which the SABC found guilty of negligence and dishonesty in 2009 related to fruitless and wasteful expenditure and was dismissed in 2010.

He was accused of massive overspending to the tune of R20 million.

The CMMA found that the SABC didn't follow the correct procedure and that Montlenyane Diphoko's dismissal was "substantially and procedurally unfair".

The SABC wasn't happy with the CCMA ruling and took the case to the Labour Court and has now lost.
