ANN7 logo and ANN7 TV reporter shows up on eNCA, getting exposure 2 days before ANN7 launches as a direct competitor on DStv.

Blink and you'll miss it, but ANN7 (DStv 405) made its very first South African television appearance courtesy of its direct competitor eNCA (DStv 403) which today is giving exposure to an ANN7 microphone and a highly irritating ANN7 TV news reporter.

The eNCA is broadcasting footage showing Cezanne Visser leaving prison, with a highly unprofessional ANN7 TV reporter running around her, microphone outstretched - just like he's seen happen in American movies.

ANN7 as South Africa's third 24-hour TV news channel will launch on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay TV platform on Wednesday. ANN7 has done dry runs to test its 24-hour news delivery capability from its new news studios in Midrand.

The ANN7 logo adorning the microphone is clearly visible on eNCA which on channel 403, will be a direct competitor of the new TV news channel.

Also shown is how the black male ANN7 reporter (extremely unprofessionally) runs alongside Cezanne Visser, pushing against her and shoving the ANN7 microphone into her face until she reaches her "getaway" car.

South African journalists and TV reporters have never stooped (yet) to the level of so-called "TV reporters" seen in fictitious American films and their extremely stereotypical (and mostly inaccurate portrayal) as supposedly representative of "the media".

Real TV reporters know that people leaving court, jail, or press conferences are not going to talk and give you a soundbyte.

Real TV reporters are connected; they work their sources to get news for their TV packages from the office or their cellphone and they interview people in less charged circumstances - instead of trying to run in their news prey like unprofessional and shut-out paparazzi for what might at most yield a "no comment".

Is this the shape of ANN7 news to come? Will ANN7 debut on Wednesday with this kind of tabloid trash TV news mentality and aggresive street style? It's never really been seen in South Africa before and has so far remained more the American domain of video paparazzi like TMZ.
