'CNN Shame on You': CNN International becomes the news in Egypt; decides to stay out of Cairo's Tahrir Square.

CNN International (DStv 401) has become the news in Egypt and is staying away from the ground of Tahrir Square after the 24-hour TV news channel incorrectly identified a group of protesters as supporters of the ousted Egyptian president, and because Egyptians are upset at CNN International for referring to Mohamed Morsi's ouster as a "coup".

Protesters in Egypt are upset that CNN International called the events rocking Egypt a coup - which in fact it is. Egyptians are also angry at CNN International after the news channel mistakenly labelled a group "pro-Morsi" supporters when they were in fact opposed to his leadership.

In Cairo Egyptians have been seen waving "CNN Shame on You' posters as well as "CNN Supports Terrorism" posters.

Ben Wedeman, CNN's senior international correspondent in Cairo said the backlash against CNN's coverage made him feel unsafe to return to Tahrir Square. "All networks make mistakes which we try to correct but in this case we've had to stay out of Tahrir to avoid trouble," Ben Wedeman wrote.
