e.tv Winter Upfront 2013: e.tv's great new e On Demand online viewing service wants to grow viewers' view - and watching - of the e.tv world.

The South African free-to-air commercial television broadcaster e.tv is forging ahead and breaking new ground as it leads the charge among local broadcasters in a massive initiative within South Africa's TV industry to make its local TV content also available to viewers online.

e.tv's new e On Demand service available on e.tv's revamped www.etv.co.za website only requires e.tv viewers to register online to get access to a growing online portfolio of e.tv's locally produced TV shows - as well as creating an immersive, additional second screen environment for e.tv viewers to interact with.

Besides MultiChoice's DStv on Demand service which exists within the pay-TV realm and is growing in South Africa where it's accessible both in a limited way through DStv decoders as well as through a much more vast online offering through an portal portal, e.tv is the only South African TV broadcaster forging new ground to bring its TV content as a free-to-air broadcaster to its viewers online.

With this move e.tv has decided to embrace an extension to an additional, online, video-on-demand (VOD) sphere where it will capture, retain, grown and enhance brand loyalty through the viewing of it's TV shows through the internet, similar to what American TV broadcasters are doing.

As broadband penetration grows in South Africa, e.tv is gearing itself and positioning the broadcaster to be able to reach ordinary South African TV viewers through e On Demand as the internet becomes both cheaper, faster and more readily available in the country as time passes.

"In case you've missed it, make sure to visit our fresh and innovative new website www.etv.co.za," says Monde Twala, e.tv's channel head.

"Our website provides viewers with an instant view of the e.tv world. You can catch up on breaking celebrity news, show details, exclusive footage and interviews from behind-the-scenes."

"With the innovative e On Demand service you can catch up on your favourite TV shows on this portal. Viewers can interact with us on social media; follow us on Twitter," says Monde Twala.
