CNN International closes its news bureau in Baghdad; last American TV news channel to no longer have a permanent bureau in the city.

CNN International (DStv 401) has closed its news bureau in Baghdad, Iraq and no longer has a permanent news bureau there.

TVNewser first reported the closure of the 24-hour news channel's news bureau in the city; the last American TV news channel to have had a real news bureau in Baghdad.

In a statement CNN says "while CNN is departing its current brick-and-mortar location in Baghdad, the network continues to maintain an editorial presence in Iraq through a dedicated team of CNN stringers and correspondent assignments as news warrants."
