WINTER FELL. Game of Thrones' 3rd season coming to M-Net from 5 April; new episodes will be longer and follow 5 days after America.

Winter is definitely coming: I can break the news that the highly-anticipated 3rd season of Game of Thrones will start in South Africa on M-Net on Friday 5 April - 5 days after it starts on 31 March in America.

Last month M-Net had no starting date yet for the new season when the new starting date was announced in America, but now M-Net has decided to roll out episodes of the new season of the dramatic fantasy series in South Africa again within days of the American broadcast, similar to the what was done with the second season.

And although the upcoming third season of Game of Thrones will again be 10 episodes just like the previous two seasons, viewers will actually get more Game of Thrones.

Each episode of Game of Thrones will be a few minutes longer - in fact every episode in the upcoming season will have several minutes added,  so much so that the season will actually be 11 episodes long if you add up every episode's extra time at the end of the upcoming season.

I'm told that M-Net is slotting in Game of Thrones for 5 April shortly after the American season premiere, but I'm told it's a preliminary starting date and that the date could be "subject to change".
