FOXTEL in Australia, unlike TopTV in South Africa, reduces its monthly subscription fee after losing TV channels.

FOXTEL in Australia is reducing the price of its pay-TV packages after the pay-TV operator lost some channels on 1 January 2013 prompting complaints from subscribers - meanwhile TopTV in South Africa has not decreased its subscription fees after it also lost channels at the same time as FOXTEL.

After more than 1000 people complained on FOXTEL's Facebook page, the pay-TV provider will now be lowering its monthly subscription fee slightly from March since it has 4 TV channels less than the beginning of this year.

TopTV has 3 less channels since 1 January 2013 but has given no indication that TopTV subscribers will be paying less because they're now also getting less.

TopTV's acting CEO, Eddie Mbalo, says the operator is :doing everything we can" to find replacement channels after Turner Broadcasting yanked Silver, Star and Showtime off TopTV's platform on 31 December 2012.
