With iCarly cancelled, Nickelodeon starts a brand-new spin-off, Sam & Cat, uniting Sam from iCarly and Cat from Victorious in a new comedy.

With iCarly on Nickelodeon (DStv 305) cancelled, the kids channel is ordering a new spin-off from the iCarly creator, Dan Schneider, entitled Sam & Cat which will follow two Nickelodeon kids teen stars further together.

Sam & Cat will bring together Jeannette McCurdy from iCarly, and pair her with Ariana Grande from Victorious on Nickelodeon, which has also been cancelled. Both will play their same roles from iCarly and Victorious, Sam Puckett and the daffy Cat Valentine.

A first season of 20 episodes of Sam & Cat has been ordered.

They become best new friends and unlikely roommates after school when the teen entrepreneurs start their own baby-sitting business in Sam & Cat. Production on the new Nickelodeon show will start in January 2013.

"Jennette and Ariana are adored by our audience, and it's great to unite these talented actresses in this hilarious new comedy from Dan Schneider," says Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon's president for content development and production in a statement.

"This show promises to deliver on what our audience loves most about these two favorite characters — laugh-out-loud humor and non-stop adventure, and is sure to be a compelling new chapter for our new comedic duo."
