THE NEW NONHLE? Bonang Matheba the co-host of the Channel O Music Video Awards 2012 with Nigeria's Ice Prince.

Bonang Matheba, fully flaunting to SABC1 that she's very publicly done with that TV channel, will now be making her appearance on a second M-Net run TV channel on DStv when she appears on Channel O (DStv 320) as the host of the Channel O Music Awards 2012 which will be broadcast live on Saturday 17 November.

Bonang Matheba who said yes to be the presenter of the new Clash of the Choirs reality music competition show on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) is now fully out of favour with SABC1 and the TV channel which made her.

SABC1 was willing to give, and indeed worked with Bonang Matheba to launch her own new show The Link which she would have presented and have been involved in from a production side as well.

Now Bonang Matheba will not only front Clash of the Choirs as a reality TV show presenter on Mzansi Magic, a channel run by the Randburg-based M-Net, she will also be the co-host of the Channel O Music Video Awards 2012 on Channel O (another M-Net channel) with Nigeria's Panshak Zamani known as Ice Prince.

The biz is now abuzz about how Bonang Matheba is turning into the new Nonhle. Similar to Nonhle Thema, Bonang Matheba's sudden new career trajectory now sees her co-hosting the annual pan-African awards ceremony, as well as doing a reality TV show. Can a fragrance, then a baby, be far behind as the self-titled Queen B echoes Miss Boom-Sit-Down?

"This year's show is going to be massive," says Bonang Matheba, although national TV critics in South Africa have not been invited by Channel O to attend as in previous years, amidst speculation of budget cuts for the show which this year will move from the Sandton Convention Centre where it has been held the past couple of years, to the Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, Soweto.

"The production and execution is going to blow our guests away," says Bonang Matheba. "Hosting an awards ceremony of this magnitude is a first for me and a great honour."
