SABC2 and Muvhango - theVenda primetime soap and number one show in overall viewership on SABC2 week after week, year after year - is looking back this Sunday night at 21:00 with a special retrospective documentary on the show's creation, existence, highlights and stories.
Muvhango: 15 Years will look back at the hit show which has had as many behind-the-scenes drama at the Word of Mouth production company as which has played out on screen the past decade and a half.
Muvhango started on Monday 7 April 1997 on SABC2, created by Duma ka Ndlovu as initially a 13 episode Venda drama based on the real-life story of the former Venda chief of Thate and reflected Sowetan township life. A decade later the show was on for four nights a week, Mondays to Thursdays on SABC2 pulling the channel's biggest viewership for a show.
Muvhango: 15 Years on Sunday will look back to the beginning, and the TV journey since, with cast and crew currently with the show as well as some famous former faces who've created, shaped and helped to entrench the Venda soap within South Africa's television landscape.
