TopTV has replaced its Channel [V] channel on its Top Star Indian bouquet with the Star Life OK channel as Channel [V] has become the latest TV channel on the TopTV platform which is being discontinued due to programming issues.
Star Life OK is an Indian general entertainment channel. TopTV's Top Star bouquet is a separate bouquet subscription service with an additional subscription cost of R69 per month.
Star Life OK takes the place of Channel [V] on channel 373. Channel [V] is being discontinued in South Africa due to format changes to the channel specifically for the market in India where the channel is shifting its focus from being a solely music channel to an entertainment channel targeting the youth market.
"The new version of Channel [V] will be without English subtitles" says Ian Woodrow, the vice president for channels at TopTV, which the South African pay-TV operator believes will therefore have appeal which would be "limited in our local market".
"All programmes on Star Life OK are supplied with English subtitles and we are confident that it will be as well received here as it has been elsewhere in the world."
