Tom Hanks joins National Geographic Channel's big docufilm for 2013, Killing Lincolm, as on-camera host and narrator.

Tom Hanks has joined the Killing Lincoln documentary, a two hour docufilm of the National Geographic Channel (DStv 260) which will be shown on the channel worldwide in 2013.

Killing Lincoln is executive produced by Ridley Scott and Tony Scott's Scott Free Productions.

Tom Hanks will serve as the on-camera host, historical commentator and narrator of Killing Lincoln. The film is based on the book Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever.

Billy Campbell plays Abraham Lincoln and Jesse Johnson is John Wilkes Booth.

"Only Tom Hanks can add that unique poise, intrigue and dynamism that are his trademark to a film about one of the most significant life-changing events in America's young history," says Ridley Scott in a press statement. "His mastery always shines through and we can't wait for viewers to be engrossed in this story."
