Dragon Wars: Fire & Fury ordered by National Geographic Channel; will look at mythical beasts and legendary battles.


The National Geographic Channel (DStv 260) has ordered Dragon Wars: Fire & Fury which will examining dragon myth in Western folklore.

Britain's Impossible Pictures is the production company with Steve Maher and Paul Wooding as executive producers. Dragon Wars will be seen on the National Geographic Channel in America later this year before being shown internationally in 171 countries, including South Africa, in 2013.

Dragon Wars: Fire & Fury will be using animated as well as live-action sequences to profile the mythical battles between dragons and legendary characters such as Sigurd and Beowulf.

"With the upcoming release of The Hobbit, the fascination with the folklore of of this time continues - in fact, many of these ancient Norse and Anglo-Saxon folktales were the inspiration for The Lord of the Rings trilogy," says Kevin Mohs, executive producer for National Geographic Channels.
