CLEVER PRESS PACK. Discovery Channel travels far and wide from September with a range of new travel shows.

The Discovery Channel's (DStv 121) PR company in South Africa, Fleishman-Hillard, couriered over a press pack for new travel programming which I thought was appropriate, clever and well-done.

With the press pack and press release with programming notes in a box came the information data card, but also appropriately a travel wallet, business card holder and a luggage tag - appropriate items that actually fit with the overall theme of the shows being promoted.

Often PRs in South Africa's TV industry courier over garish, inappropriate, crazy stuff that has almost no bearing on the actual programming they're trying to promote; not willing to think just a little longer and spend a little more time on the how of what they're trying to get attention for.
