BREAKING. Witches didn't work, so maybe angels? Or more precisely, half-angels. Steven Spielberg readying a new supernatural teen drama.

The Secret Circle about teen witches didn't work and the youth drama was cancelled after one season - so maybe one about angels, or more specifically half-angel teens might.

Sounding a lot like America's ABC Family channel's miniseries The Fallen which was shown in South Africa on GO (now Vuzu), SABC1, SABC2, SABC3 (and coming in October again on SABC3) about Paul Wesley as a "nephilim" (half-human, half-angel), Steven Spielberg and the CW network in America are teaming on a new teen drama series about half-angels.

Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television (interesting in itself, since Steven Spielberg used to make television the past few years under the DreamWorks Television banner like Falling Skies on Fox Entertainment, Terra Nova on M-Net and Smash coming to M-Net Series) is turning Jessica Shirvington's book Embrace into a TV pilot episode.

In Embrace the 17 year old Violet Eden discovers that she is half-angel and the key to a centuries-old war between fallen angels and their earthly protectors. As her boyfriend betrays her, her enemy saves her.

In Embrace the half-angels, half-humans are called Grigori, and for centuries there's been a secret battle raging between Angels and Exiles. The CW network is of course known for The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and Smallville.
