BREAKING. Whoops! SABC mic mess suddenly has market analyst on the floor and out of shot in live cross-over to the JSE.

You're reading it here first.

How embarrassing! It seemed like amateur hour when the SABC's SABC News division suffered an embarrassing mic mess live on the air this afternoon on SABC3 when an Absa bank executive disappeared out of live shot, having to grasp at a lapel mic which fell on the floor as the SABC reporter simply looked down on him - literally.

The highly embarrassing incident happened live this afternoon during SABC3's News @ 1 when the bulletin crossed over live to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and the stoic SABC business reporter Gunther Deutsch.

Gunther Deutsch was getting ready to interview Absa Private Clients' Chris Gilmour. Just as Chris Gilmour was about to answer, his lapel mic clip-on came loose and the mic fell off.
"Oh! Beg your pardon," said Chris Gilmour as he suddenly hunched our of frame, and went straight for the floor to try and pick up the live mic.
Meanwhile SABC News stayed on an embarrassing live shot of the JSE backdrop. Viewers saw Gunther Deutsch from the right hand corner of the screen, looking down on Chris Gilmour.
Suddenly a flustered Chris Gilmour popped back up, opting to hold the lapel mic in his hand. To his credit he kept talking and answering Gunther Deutsch's first question.
