BREAKING. Comedy Central grabs Charlie Sheen's Anger Management for South Africa, to start here from October.

You're reading it here first.

In its first real great acquisition for the channel in South Africa and Africa, I can exclusively reveal that Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN Africa) has secured the broadcasting rights to Charlie Sheen's new sitcom, Anger Management for Comedy Central (DStv 122).

Besides The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report which started when Comedy Central launched in December 2011 on MultiChoice's DStv and which are good content (despite episodes often being cut and edited down due to territory rights issues), the acquisition of Anger Management bring a premium, first-run sitcom to Comedy Central which is worth tuning into.

Last month I asked VIMN Africa regarding the status of Anger Management for South Africa and Africa after Comedy Central UK signed for the broadcasting rights. VIMN Africa told me that Comedy Central Africa is run independently of Comedy Central UK and that one cannot assume that Comedy Central Africa will automatically acquire a TV series which another Comedy Central TV channel has.

Now according to sources Anger Management marking the return of Charlie Sheen to television will indeed be on Comedy Central Africa too. The preliminary starting date for Anger Management on Comedy Central is apparently Monday 1 October at 19:10.
