South Africa's Aids TV puppet, the Muppet Kami, off to America to be part of a broadcast talk event about HIV and tuberculosis.

South Africa's HIV/Aids puppet, the yellow Takalani Sesame Muppet Kami is going to America as part of a live broadcast talk event "Talk on Tuberculosis and HIV, Protecting the vulnerable women and children".

"The event represents an opportunity for viewers to hear first-hand experiences of women and young people who have survived tuberculosis, overcome stigma and led their own community efforts to tackle both diseases," says Lolli Goodson, the acting head of children's programming at the SABC.

The event will take place in Washington DC on Sunday 22 July at the Newseum and will be streamed online at www.ifrc.org/hiv-tb-talkshow. Gerry Elsdon and Jeanne Meserve are the co-hosts of the talk.
