Quizzical Pictures now officially the new name of Curious Pictures as the production company differentiates its identity.

As I reported in May is busy happening, has now come to pass: Curious Pictures has changed the production company's nama eot Quizzical Pictures to differentiate it from a New York production company with the same name.

MasterChef South Africa, 4Play, Soul City, Rhythm City, Class Act and Intersextions (to mention just a few South African TV productions) are Quizzical Pictures TV productions. The last renaming was in 1999 when the company changed from Mail and Guardian Television to Curious Pictures.

"Although the two companies have managed to co-exist for many years, Curious Pictures South Africa is now doing a lot of international work and needs to differentiate its identity," says Quizzical Pictures in a statement.

"It is a big step but one we believe is wortk taking," says Harriet Gavshon, the managing director. "We are increasingly producing work for an international audience and getting recognition around the world. Once the initial shock is over, we tink it's an opportunity to bed down our reputation both internationally and at home without the impediment of another company sharing our name."

'Whilst we retain the talent, quality and integrity of the past, we believe our brand-new name and identity will give us the opportunity to bring a whole lot of fresh energy and passion into what we do," says Sizwe Kumalo, the head of business development at Quizzical Pictures.

Quizzical Pictures' contact details such as telephone numbers and Curious Pictures email addresses will remain unchanged. There is of course the new website for Quizzical Pictures at www.quizzical.co.za.
