The renegade crew of the USS Colorado defects, inhabits a new island, Sainte Marina, and makes it the world's first new nation with nuclear weapons.
The family members of the USS Colorado are still left in America. The rest of the world is unsure of how to react and America wants to destroy the island. Last Resort, at first take, comes across as a bit of Terra Nova, meets Lost, meets The Event, meets SeaQuest DSV (before it went off the rails).
