VIDEO. 'And we follow them up there.' The cool new TV commercial of British Airways in Africa ... and a Concorde.

I've been all over the world as a journalist; I fly a lot. Favourite airline? British Airways (No. They're not paying  me or giving me more leg room to say that. Oh, and their business lounges are the best - and not just because of the biggest selection of newspapers).

Anyway, I like the epic new British Airways TV commercial - nicely custom-made for South Africa. It features 13 members of the British Airways staff and shows the airline's dedication to flying since the first aviators of 1920.

It's interesting to me how cleverly it plays on the romanticised notion of air travel. My usual experience, constantly flying between Cape Town and Johannesburg with various airlines is always a more dreaded experience and something which I've stopped looking forward to years ago.

But back to this commercial - the whole TV advert for British Airways for South Africa and Africa is very cool. What I like the most, is the almost Wolf 359 bit at the end - and if you don't know what that means, you won't even appreciate how a fleet formation is actually a symbolic representation of unity.

How very cool is that Concorde inclusion and fly-by at the end - almost as if the past which was the future, is really still up there.
