If you're in television and your publicist has never told you: Some advice when you talk to the press.

At the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Hollywood - a hotel I myself have stayed in going to Los Angeles to do press junkets at the sets of American TV shows - the remaining contestants in the Your OWN Show reality show had to do press interviews and got first-hand experience about how to deal with the press when you work in television.

Gayle King, the editor-at-large of O, The Oprah Magazine in America, had golden advice for the contestants on dealing with journalists, what to remember during interviews, and doing press junkets.

"Im here to give you a little bit of advice," said Gayle King. "Whether it's on the internet, print, or television, getting press is key. You need to promote yourself, and you need to promote the network as a whole."

"When you talk to the press today, remember to give them a reason to remember you."

"Be truthful; be honest, but most importantly of all - be yourself."

"I believe that any question can be asked," said Gayle King, "but you also have the right to answer it the way you want to. You can tell what you know, but you don't have to tell everything you know."

"You have to figure out: 'This is what I'm going to answer' in a very forthcoming way. You don't want to look as if you're evasive or trying to hide."

Kevin Frazier from Entertainment Tonight was one of the media outlets doing interviews. "Christina, out of the blue, decided to introduce into our conversation, her past problems with another contestants. If I'm not asking about it, don't introduce it into the conversation because then it becomes a problem for you now. And when people see that, it changes their opinion of you."
