Unclear is whether the new Top Billing Presenter Search will feature in regular weekly inserts within the SABC3 stalwart, or whether it will become its own stand-alone spin-off show.
The previous Top Billing Presenter Search which delivered Simba Mhere as the winner in December 2010, produced - besides weekly inserts in the main show - extremely well-produced additional TV specials.
The longrunning Top Billing is SABC3's strongest aspirational programming brand since the end of Oprah and remains - despite numerous day and timeslot changes - the number one rated local weekly show on the channel, drawing an average of 2 million viewers per week.
Also in existence changing the equation since the previous Top Billing Presenter Search is Expresso - the SABC3 weekday breakfast show also produced by Tswelopele Productions, as well as the weekly Dr. Mol Show. It's conceivable that the trifecta of television platforms will all be used to promote the show, but also serve as challenges for the contestants.
The Top Billing Presenter Search is taking place on these dates and places and contestants have to bring a completed entry form, a copy of their ID, and a photo. Contestants also have to prepare a possible presenter's "link" or "introduction" to a TV segment.
