M-Net brought its viewers masturbation in the 20:30 timeslot this evening in the third episode of Homeland as viewers continue to complain about the inappropriate time of this show.
M-Net says it has a right to show Homeland this early and that M-Net subscribers have to use their parental control function if they want to block the explicit sex scenes, nudity, violence and graphic language.
Has M-Net ever in its 25 year existence as a pay TV broadcaster showed a man masturbating this early in the evening? Who knows.
Homeland comes across as inappropriate for the 20:30 timeslot compared to dramas Blue Bloods, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Good Wife and CSI: Miami shown on other evenings in the same timeslot on M-Net.
Compared to what M-Net has always shown at 20:30 in the timeslot, M-Net subscribers have a certain expectation in terms of the value proposition of what M-Net will be broadcasting (and not be broadcasting) in that hiherto considered "safe" hour - which is catching viewers by surprise.

M-Net says the pay TV operator is aware of viewers' comments on social media and a complaints at the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) regarding Homeland.
Homeland is filled with strong language, nudity, sex
scenes and the "F" word in the opening theme in the 20:30 timeslot. Viewers feel Homeland is too graphic and that the age restriction of 16 and timeslot for Homeland is "completely inappropriate" .
