BREAKING. Farscape returning to South Africa after TopTV signs a broadcasting agreement for the science fiction drama series.

The critically acclaimed science fiction series Farscape is coming to TopTV with On Digital Media (ODM) which has signed a broadcasting agreement for the show with the Jim Henson Company - which could finally provide continuance and closure for South African viewers who were left dangling.

SABC3 which first brought Farscape to South African viewers point-blank cancelled the show after the first season, with neither e.tv, nor M-Net Series or M-Net Action picking up the show. SABC3 told me then low ratings and Farscape ''not performing as anticipated'' meant the show would never be back again. (Strangely SABC3 a few years later did go with the two made-for-TV movies after the conclusion of the series.)

Now viewers will be able to see the further space adventures when Farscape comes to Top One (TopTV 150) although a scheduling date has not yet been determined.

Interestingly South African viewers are still waiting to (if ever) see the end of shows sadly dumped before they really ended such as Sliders on SABC2, Murphy Brown on SABC1, Quantum Leap on SABC1, Star Trek The Next Generation on SABC3, Passions on e.tv. Bones cut short after its first season on SABC3 has since started from the beginning on TopTV as well.
