BREAKING. M-Net Series apologizes to viewers for language censorship on drama series Rescue Me; says it was a mistake that won't happen again.
M-Net Series (DStv 110) is apologizing to DStv subscribers for censoring the language on the 6th season of the American drama series Rescue Me (Fridays, 22:00) which M-Net Series is calling ''a major error'' and says won't be happening again.
DStv subscribers have a language option choice through their decoders including ''English - Original'' or ''English Family''. DStv subscribers complained that MultiChoice and M-Net was censoring the language content with audio blackouts even on the ''English - Original'' audio option for Rescue Me.
In response to TV with Thinus' media enquiry, Khosi Khanyile, M-Net Series channel head says it was a mistake; is not how shows on M-Net Series will be played out for the rest of the year, and that no forced censorship has been taking place.
''We've discovered that there has not been clear communication between the channel and the Play Out facilities with regards to content that has censored audio,'' says Khosi Khanyile. ''No, this has not been deliberate and it is not how programmes will be playing out for the rest of 2012. No forced censorship is taking place.''
She says the problem has been fixed ''and should not pose a problem moving forward''.
''We would like to apologise for this major error and M-Net Series viewers can look forward to both audio tracks being available.''
