BREAKING. Hlaudi Motsoeneng is the SABC's new acting group CEO in the place of Phil Molefe.

The SABC has made no announcement to the press about it, but Hlaudi Motsoeneng is the SABC's new acting group CEO in the place of Phil Molefe.

Hlaudi Motsoeneng's real job at the South African public broadcaster is that of executive looking after stakeholder relations and provinces. Hlaudi Motsoeneng's appointment as acting group CEO at the SABC is effective immediately until Phil Molefe returns to the SABC from an official engagement. That means that Phil Molefe is currently overseas.

UPDATE Wednesday 16 November 19:15 - Kaizer Kgangayo, SABC spokesperson just called me back and says his plane landed and he's responding to my media enquiry. The SABC is not saying where Phil Molefe went, but Kaizer Kganyago says Phil Molefe will be back ''this week''. Kaizer Kganyago says this is ''not the first time Hlaudi Motsoeneng is acting [as group CEO at the SABC], he has stepped in before. There is nothing strange about it.''
