Katty Kay named the permanent lead anchor of BBC World News America weeknights on BBC World News.


BBC World News (DStv 400 / TopTV 400) has announced that the 24 hour news channel's longtime Washington correspondent Katty Kay is the new permanent lead anchor of BBC World News America (weeknights, 22:00, South African time).

Katty Kay has been the presenter of BBC World News America since Matt Frei left in May.

''In an increasingly complex world, BBC World News America offers a unique global perspective on events both within and outside the U.S,'' said Katty Kay in a statement. ''I am delighted to be anchoring a newscast that covers not just the big breaking stories, but wider analysis and reports.''

Katty Kay will be anchoring BBC World News America's in-depth coverage from New York to mark the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, including wider analysis and reflection from around the world.
