NIKITA, WE NEED YOU SO. Youth action drama Nikita coming to M-Net from Tuesday 11 October at 19:30 for its first season of 22 episodes.
You're reading it here first.
I can exclusively break the news that not only has M-Net secured the broadcasting rights to the youth drama Nikita but I can reveal that the show will not go to Vuzu (DStv 123) as has happened to 90210 and Glee but that it will be on the M-Net channel (DStv 101) and will start on Tuesday 11 October at 19:30 for a first season of 22 episodes.
Nikita with Maggie Q that was recently renewed for a second season, is a youth audience ''remake'' of sorts of the 1997's La Femme Nikita that was shown in South Africa on e.tv.
The scheduling of Nikita on M-Net marks an interesting change. It's a youth action drama and is shown in America on the CW network, also the home of 90210, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and other shows that's all currently Vuzu properties.
Yet M-Net has earmarked Nikita for the M-Net channel. Could it mean that the experiment of all youth related shows being shipped off to Vuzu and M-Net Series, and the M-Net channel becoming almost a much older-skewing ''CBS network'' style channel heavily loaded with NCIS: LA, the CSI's, Hawaii Five-O, The Talk, Hot in Cleveland and Blue Bloods be over?
