LATE BREAKING NEWS. The SABC set to make an announcement on Friday regarding issues raised in parliament.

You're reading it here first.

Late breaking news, 5 minutes before midnight is that the SABC has just decided to make an announcement scheduled for tomorrow, that will most probably be to announce a new wage negotiation agreement between the South African public broadcaster and the unions.

The unions were slow to react or comment, and in most cases were not willing to comment at all this week after the shocking news on Tuesday that the SABC wants almost R7 billion from government over the next 3 years. It strongly suggest that a new wage negotiation deal has maybe been reached this week. Unions seem more willing to toe the line with less of the grand posturing and the usual vitriolic rhetoric that builds during the negotiating phase of wage agreements.

Just before midnight the SABC alerted that an ''important announcement'' will be made at the SABC's headquarters at Auckland Park at 11:00 in the ground floor auditorium on Friday which will be done by SABC management and the unions together. Deal or no Deal? ...

UPDATE Friday 19 August 10:20 - The SABC just issued an advisory stating that the subject of the press briefing will be to address issues raised in parliament regarding the turnaround strategy, the SABC's funding model and retrenchments.
