Who knew? Mzansi Magic (DStv 107) that turns one year old tomorrow (and will be changing its on-air look) just dumped a brand-new local South African sitcom surprise, that's a massive surprise for two reasons. It's For Life will start this Friday at 19:00 on Mzansi Magic and centres around 20-something women who discover a squatter living in their new house they can't evict.
It's For Life is a surprise since:
- It has Gugulethu Zuma (as Coco) and Nokuthula Zuma as Jabu in two of the lead roles. Yes. Gugulethu Zuma and Nokuthula Zuma are the daughters of South African president Jacob Zuma. Yes, they're both on television and in the same show together (obviously also the first time they're on TV together; and the first time they're in a sitcom together). Mzansi Magic wanted buzz and this will get this show buzz. (Gugulethu Zuma appeared in SABC3's Isidingo since last July in a recurring role.)
- Nooobody knew about this. It's For Life is a ''fresh new sitcom about four young women making their way through life in a fun, exciting and hilarious way,'' says Mzansi Magic in a press statement. ''It's about a group of 20-something South African women whom a re destined to connect with Mzansi Magic's female viewers in a big, big way. It's a story of four women who have ups and downs in love, career and friendship - but who will always be together, in one way or another, for life.''
