South Africa's Liz Fish scoops top environmental TV award for impactful environmental stories on M-Net's Carte Blanche.

The investigative journalist and producer  Liz Fish who regularly produces inserts for the award-winning weekly investigative magazine show Carte Blanche on M-Net (Sundays, 19:00) has been awarded the David Suzuki Green Award at the 32nd Banff World Media Festival.

This top environmental prize is awarded by an international jury of broadcasters chosen by the festival honouring work in the television and digital media sphere and the Cape Town based Liz Fish was recognised for her environmental journalism. ''Liz Fish's incisive environmental journalism has made an outstanding impact in South Africa and around the world,'' says Georges Leclere, director of the media awards.

Some of the recent work Liz Fish did for M-Net's Carte Blanche includes stories about fracking in the Karoo, E.coli in the sea and rivers, and an investigation into the fish harvesting industry selling fish that were not of the species they're claimed to be.
