Discovery starts filming Inside Story: The Science of HIV/Aids in South Africa as an edu-tainment film for broad release across Southern Africa.


Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership (DCGEP), a non-profit organisation of Discovery, started principal photography on a the film Inside Story: The Science of HIV/Aids in Johannesburg this week.

Curious Pictures are producing the film with Rolie Nikiwe as director as Kevin Mamboleo as Kalu, a football star who moves from Kenya to South Africa and urban Johannesburg. Kalu falls in love with the coach's daughter and discovers that he is HIV positive. Inside Story: The Science of HIV/Aids stars Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Fana Mokoena and Regina-Re. The edu-tainment film will dispel the myths around HIV/Aids and will be broadcast across sub-Saharan Africa and shown in schools.

''We are shining a light on the unseen realities of HIV and Aids,'' says Aric Noboa, president of DCGEP. ''Thanks to passionate and generous partners, world-class talent and support from around the globe, we will bring a unique approach to HIV/Aids education to audiences across the African continent.''


Behind-the-scenes shorts from Inside Story: The Science of HIV/Aids will also be produced and these will be broadcast on Discovery's portfolio of TV channels in South Africa at the same time as when the film will be released.
