BREAKING. Everybody hates how the SABC schedules: In a rush SABC1 adds 2 episodes of Everybody Hates Chris per week as rights are expiring.

You're reading it here first.

The SABC is once again caught between a rock and a hard place: Chris Rock and the looming threat of amortisation of a TV property which the public broadcaster has already acquired and paid for, but has licensing rights on the verge of expiring.

SABC1 is shuffling its schedule at short notice to hastily work in two episodes per week of the Chris Rock sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. The licensing rights of the SABC1 for Everybody Hates Chris expires on 31 August, so SABC1 is pushing out the start of Brothers from 24 June to Friday 2 September at 19:00 to have the sitcom continue. From Monday 18 July SABC1 is adding another Everybody Hates Chris episode in the 19:00 timeslot as well, meaning that the planned start of My Perfect Family will now be Monday 5 September at 19:00.

This effectively means that SABC1 will be showing two episodes of Everybody Hates Chris per week, due to a lack of better and timeous co-ordination between programme acquisition, programme scheduling, and play-out of the available licensed shows in due time before crisis scheduling becomes necessary.
