EXCLUSIVE. M-Net channel head Pierre Cloete on pay broadcaster's new repeat strategy: ''It's now easier for viewers to catch up.''

''We had some new opportunities to make new scheduling choices for the M-Net channel on DStv and to create a new repeat strategy for M-Net,'' Pierre Cloete, M-Net channel head, tells TV with Thinus regarding M-Net's (DStv 101) new schedule that was introduced at the beginning of April and that viewers are experiencing from this week.

I asked Pierre Cloete what's behind the new repeat strategy of specifically how and where shows are scheduled on the M-Net channel, compared to before. ''If you look at M-Net as a channel, there's certain timeslots that's crucial appointment viewing times and very important for viewers. We have lengthened what we considered to be primetime from 21:30 to 22:30 at night. That's when most people are home and want to relax and watch TV,'' he says.

''Over the weekend, because we're moving SuperSport away from M-Net on DStv to other channels, that also opened some timeslots and schedule gaps for us as new programming opportunities. In the mornings between 07:00 and 10:00 we also had some new opportunities to make new scheduling choices. Because those gaps opened, we decided to adapt our repeat schedule and make it better for viewers,'' says Pierre Cloete.

''On Saturdays we repeat our 20:30 shows and we have an omnibus of our weekday reality show - in this case Masterchef Australia II which is very nice. On Sundays we also have an omnibus, a family movie, and then we have a repeat back to back of the shows we have on weekdays at 19:30. Weekends are now easier for viewers to catch up a bit on what they might have missed during the week.''
