In a major coup for South Africa and African TV audiences, Fox International Channel (FIC) has signed exclusive first-run right for the TV show Falling Skies from TNT and Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks Television. Falling Skies is about a professor (played by Noah Wyle) who leads a rag-tag group of survivors in modern-day America. He's looking for his family while 3 different types of aliens have attacked the Earth.

Although TopTV and Fox Entertainment isn't giving a specific broadcasting date for the start of Falling Skies beyond just saying its starting in July, its significant since the show also only starts in June in America. It means that Falling Skies episodes will unfold in South Africa at the longest just a few weeks at most (if even that long) after its shown in America.
''We are thrilled to have finalised the first run pay television rights for Falling Skies from TNT and Dreamworks,'' says Thandi Davids, the regional director for Africa for FIC. ''The negotiations were tough and we are really pleased that we have managed to secure the rights for viewers in South Africa for TopTV and our partner broadcasters on the continent. Given the great storyline, the association with Steven Spielberg and a stellar cast, we expect this series to be huge both globally and locally.''

''Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks Television have combined forces in this amazing sci-fi series which is a first run in South Africa and exclusive to TopTV. As with The Walking Dead, Fox and TopTV [will] once again bring awarding-winning entertainment to South African audiences''.
