BREAKING. The Bold and the Beautiful moving from SABC1 to SABC3 from October; episodes to follow closer to America.
You're reading it here first.
TV with Thinus can exclusively break the news that the primetime soap The Bold and the Beautiful on SABC1 will be moving to SABC3 - permanently - from October this year and become a new SABC3 soap and in the current Isidingo timeslot of 18:30.
With the move to SABC3 in 4 months time I can reveal that the gap is also going to be closed so that the currently year lag time between episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful as shown in America and when those episodes eventually get shown in South Africa, is narrowed considerably.
Isidingo will be moving out of the fierce local soap slot of 18:30 on weekdays and half an hour earlier to 18:00. The Bold and the Beautiful will follow Isidingo at 18:30 from October. ''There's been talk about moving The Bold and the Beautiful away from SABC1 for years and years,'' I'm told. ''SABC1 is a youth channel. The Bold and the Beautiful viewership skews more older and is in terms of its look and feel and themes better fit with the SABC3 audience.''
The gap of roughly a year between America and South Africa will also be ''drastically shortened'' I'm told, although no specifics are given. ''There is a very, very specific strategy that's been agreed and worked out to have the South African audience catch up with what has been happening in America as the gap is eventually closed so that the episodes shown here are more recent.''
