The National Geographic Channel diving deep and investigating animal powers in new productions; renews several other shows.
The National Geographic Channel (DStv 260) has ordered 13 new TV series that viewers will see later this year and next year, and renewed several other shows on the science and natural history TV channel.
The channel will broadcast the new Alien Deep, a five part oceanographic mini-series with Titanic discoverer Robert Ballard as well as a three part mini-series Animal Superpowers presented by Patrick Stewart.
Other new shows that the channel will be rolling out later this year and next year include American Knights in the US, a jousting competision presented by the Navy Seal Charlie Andrews and The Indestructibles about death-defying survivors who made it out alive from what should have been fatal accidents. Rocket Men is a real-life Eureka about Nasa who works with geniuses in a rural Alabama town doing experiments and trying to find answers to science's biggest questions.
Shows that got renewed for further seasons on The National Geographic Channel include Explorer (18 new hour long episodes), Alaska State Troopers (13 new hour long episodes), Beat Hunter (7 new hour long episodes) as well as Shark Men for 10 new hour long episodes.
