SABC advertise for a new group CEO who can ''guide the organisation through the next step of its evolution''.
The SABC, with the help of the leading executive search consulting firm SpencerStuart, has started to advertise for the position of a new group CEO after the public broadcaster and its former suspended group CEO Solly Mokoetle abruptly parted ways last month. Solly Mokoetle got severance package of R3,4 million to disappear. The closing date for applications for his vacant position is 13 February.
''The chairman and the board are seeking to recruit an experienced executive with an outstanding record of success, who will have the stature, leadership skills, and vision to further develop the fortunes of this proud national institution and guide the organisation through the next step of its evolution,'' states the ad.
The SABC is paying SpencerStuart, one of the world's leading executive search consulting firms to handle the group CEO position application process. According to the advert ''the successful candidate will be an inspirational business leader with a high degree of social and cultural sensitivity so as to consolidate the SABC's position as a pre-eminent and profitable broadcaster, meeting the needs of a diverse and vibrant society.''
According to the advert the group CEO position requires ''at least 10 years senior management experience'', ''experience in the public sector'', ''a proven track record of strategic leadership'', ''a postgraduate degree, preferably an MBA'', and should be ''a proven executive with the vision and cutting-edge expertise'' preferably within the media industry.
The advert makes no mention of the renumeration package or benefits. Of course the group CEO will get to watch the SABC's 3 TV channels and listen to 19 radio stations.
